Balfour Beatty wins £18.5m leisure centre project

Balfour Beatty has won an £18.5m leisure centre contract in south London, while Mansell has secured its 65th contract at Great Ormond Street hospital. The project at Elephant and Castle includes a swimming pool, a four-court sports hall and a gym in a three-storey building on the site of an older centre. Designed in collaboration with Southwark Council, the leisure centre will be clad in wood and lightweight metal brass.Balfour Beatty will seek to gain a high BREEAM rating for the project by including photovoltaic solar panels, water recycling and combined heat and boiler plant.
