Costain has been appointed to upgrade the M1 J28 to 31 and J32 to 35a in deals worth around £125m.
The M1 J23 to 31 deal is the final of four schemes that were set out for ‘speedy’ construction by the government in October 2012.
The two schemes are adjacent to each other and Costain said that by undertaking both projects it would be able to “effectively manage road space between them and reduce disruption to road users”.
