Contractors are expected to be announced in August 2013 for the construction of a new energy-from-waste facility to be built at DS Smith Paper's Kemsley Mill, near Sittingbourne in Kent. The £80 million facility will be built and operated by energy giant E.On and EfW specialist Wheelabrator Technologies. The clients are in negotiations with two preferred contractors, UK based civil engineering contractor and a German technology company. Construction is to commence Autumn 2013 with completion Autumn 2015.
