Lafarge Tarmac has been awarded a highways contract with Norfolk County Council worth up to £480 million. The deal, which is worth up to £40 million a year, will run for a decade, with an option for a two-year extension. Under the contract, which starts in April 2014, the company will carry out highway surfacing, bridge and structures maintenance, gully cleansing, grass cutting, patching, surface dressing, and integrated transport schemes across the county. Lafarge Tarmac said its commitment to safety, quality and partnering helped to win the deal as well as the company’s existing infrastructure of operations within Norfolk which includes over 10 asphalt plants, railheads and quarries.
