Levenseat Ltd has secured planning permission for construction of a 60,000 tonnes p.a plant for the thermal treatment of mixed residual wastes by gasification. The plant is to be built at Forth in Lanark and will generate 6MW of electricity which will be exported to the grid, and 14MW of secondary heat which will be used in an adjacent materials drying plant. Secondary heat will also available for space heating in greenhouses and for export to local district heating schemes. Discussions are underway with a number of Engineer, Procure and Construction (EPC) Contractors and a preferred bidder is anticipated to be selected mid 2013.
