An application has been submitted, and accepted by the Infrastructure Planning Commission for a £150 million bio mass plant at Battleship Wharf, North Blyth in Northumberland. The scheme, submitted by Renewable Energy Systems Ltd will include 100MW renewable energy scheme fuelled by wood based biomass, working closely with the Port of Blyth. The scheme will have the capacity to generate 750Gwh of clean, renewable electricity a years, which is equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of approximately 180,000 average British households.
