Contractors awarded £300m wind farm

A joint venture between Balfour Beatty Construction Services (Wales Division) and Jones Brothers Ruthin have secured the construction civil and electrical works for Vattenfall's 76 turbine Pen Y Cymoedd wind farm project. Works are expected to get underway post Christmas 2013 on the £300 million scheme and ABB will be working with Balfour Beatty to deliver the grid infrastructure.
Tenders invited for highways framework
The Midlands Highway Alliance Medium Schemes Framework 2 (MSF2) is currently out to tender and due to return the 25th November 2013. The bids are being returned to Leicestershire County Council and bidders include Volker Fitzpatrick. Typical schemes may involve, but not exclusively, highway improvements, highway maintenance, highway infrastructure works (including bridges, subways, culverts and retaining walls), public realm works (town centre enhancements), drainage improvements, canal works and other infrastructure works such as waste management facilities. Project values will be set in two lots. Lot 1 will be scheme values ranging from £1 million to £5 million and Lot 2 ranging from £5 million to £25 million.
Works complete on £3.5m supermarket
Barr Construction has now completed works on site for the construction of a new Waitrose supermarket in Helensburgh. The £3.5 million scheme was designed by architect Cooper Cromar and the store opened October 24th 2013.
Contractor due to be appointed on £12m supermarket
RG Group is now in negotiations for the construction of a new Asda supermarket in Ware. The £12 million scheme has been designed by HGP Architects, and works are due to start on site November 2013.
